Autobots, roll out! 🚀 Decepticons, destroy the Autobots! 💥
On September 17th, 1984, a new animated series based on Hasbro’s and Takara Tomy’s new toy line of robot action figures that transformed into unique vehicles and weapons debuted and soon took the world by storm! 🌪️
No one could’ve ever imagined the impact it would’ve had, but here we are 40 years later, with over 8 movies, 28 shows, and dozens of unique toy lines/series, and the Transformers are now inspiring a new generation! 🤩
Kids of the 80s now grown up with families of their own, were in for a special and nostalgic treat when they took a trip to the movies this past week. 🎟️
To celebrate 40 years of fandom of the world’s most iconic robots, Transformers fans young and young-at-heart headed to the theatre for a special screening that celebrated the legendary animated series that started it all. 🎉
The Decades of Cool Toys team, along with many other Transformers fans, sat in anticipation this past Wednesday and watched in awe as the show that shaped a generation was shown on the big screen. 🤩
Prior to the screening, fans got to see some sneak peeks of other things in the world of Transformers, like season 2 of Transformers: Earth Spark, as well as commercials for the latest transformer figures and collectibles. 📺
When it was officially showtime, the moment did not disappoint, as fans got to watch some of the original voice actors like Frank Welker who voices Megatron and several other Decepticons, and Peter Cullen, the incomparable voice of Optimus Prime, return along with other familiar faces for a special table read of Episode 1. 🎤
Episodes 2, 3, and 4, were shown in a traditional setting, as the familiar ratio of TVs from long ago, filled up the screen, as we watched Autobots and Decepticons continue to battle it out. 📺
Even the original intro and outro for commercial breaks were used just like they were during the original television broadcast, bringing yet another piece of nostalgia to those who grow up watching the show 🥹
After the screening was officially over, fans shuffled out of the theatre, speaking in excited hushed voices. 🗣️ Back in the lobby, we got to see some of the many ways they “rolled out” to the screening - wearing their favorite shirts and helmets, and of course bringing their favorite figures and accessories!
40 years of more than meets the eye, and we have a feeling that the story, figures, and fandom are just getting started! 😎
